Picture this: a frazzled mom trying to balance her duties as a superhero of a parent while also wanting to contribute to her family’s income. That was me. Don’t get me wrong, I loved taking care of my kids, but I also wanted to be a boss lady and make some moolah.

And that’s when I stumbled upon the magical world of virtual assisting.

From Bed to Bread: How Pajamas Became My Work-from-Home Uniform

It was introduced to me by a good friend of mine. At first, I was skeptical about working from home, but then I thought- hey, I can wear pajamas all day and no one will judge me! I mean, who doesn’t want to wear pajamas all day and still bring in the bucks, am I right?

So, I decided to become a virtual assistant and offer my skills to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

From Typing to Crying: My Struggles as a Starting VA

When I first started working from home as a virtual assistant, I thought it would be easy. After all, I had all the comforts of my own home right at my fingertips. But as it turned out, the transition wasn’t as smooth as I had hoped.

At first, I found myself easily distracted by the television, the dishes in the sink, and the temptation to just take a nap. With no boss hovering over me or co-workers to chat with, I felt lonely and unmotivated.

I also struggled with the lack of structure in my day. I had to learn how to manage my time effectively, and to set clear boundaries between my work time and my personal time. It was a challenge to stay focused and productive without the external cues of a traditional office environment.

From Couch Potato to Virtual Dynamo: My Journey to Rocketing It

But slowly, I started to figure things out. I created a dedicated workspace for myself, set specific work hours, and established a routine for my day. I also found ways to stay connected with other virtual assistants through online forums and social media groups.

Now, after several months of trial and error, I feel much more comfortable and confident in my role as a virtual assistant. While it wasn’t easy at first, I’m grateful for the opportunity to work from home.

It wasn’t like a walk in the park kind of thing but eventually I rocked it! I managed client’s websites, do automations like a pro, and slicing through my to-do list.

I started by offering my services to small businesses and entrepreneurs, helping them with administrative tasks such as email management, scheduling appointments, and social media management. My clients were thrilled with my work, and soon I was receiving referrals from them.

Being a virtual assistant is like having your cake and eating it too. I get to have a flexible schedule that lets me work when I want, where I want, and how I want. It’s like having superpowers, except instead of flying or shooting laser beams, I can balance work and family like a pro.

Becoming a virtual assistant is like finding the golden ticket in a Wonka bar. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and it’s given me the chance to chase my dreams without sacrificing my family time.

Going virtual has been the bomb dot com for me. I get to do what I love while still being there for my fam – it’s a win-win situation! I’m able to contribute financially to our family while still being there for my children. I love the freedom and flexibility my job provides, and the sense of purpose it gives me outside of my role as a mother.
